Temporary Pain-Relief Paste for Toothache

What This Paste Does

  • Temporarily numbs pain
  • Reduces harmful bacteria
  • Soothes irritated gums
  • Helps you rest, eat, or sleep more comfortably

(This does not repair decay, but it can make things manageable.)

Ingredients & Measurements

  • Clove powder – ¼ teaspoon
    (or 1 drop clove oil if powder isn’t available)
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon
  • Coconut oil – ½ teaspoon (just enough to form a paste)

How to Make It

  1. In a small clean bowl, mix clove powder and turmeric.
  2. Add coconut oil slowly.
  3. Stir until you get a thick, smooth paste (not runny).

How to Apply

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly.
  2. Using a clean fingertip or cotton swab, apply a tiny amount directly to:
    • the decayed tooth or
    • the surrounding gum area
  3. Leave it on for 10–20 minutes.
  4. Spit gently and rinse lightly with warm water.
  5. Use up to 2 times a day only.

Important Safety Tips 

  • Do not swallow the paste.
  • Do not use for more than 2 consecutive days.
  • Avoid clove oil if you have very sensitive gums (use clove powder instead).
  • Stop immediately if burning or irritation occurs.
  • Do not apply to open sores or bleeding gums.

Storage / Shelf Life

  • Store in a small airtight container.
  • Keep in the refrigerator.
  • Shelf life: up to 3 days.
  • Discard if smell or color changes.

When to Stop Home Treatment & Seek Help 

  • Pain lasts longer than 48 hours
  • Swelling increases
  • You notice pus, fever, or jaw pain
  • Pain spreads to the ear or head

These signs mean the infection may be progressing.
