CAYENNE + HAWTHORN HEART TONIC

CAYENNE + HAWTHORN HEART TONIC

A classic traditional blend for circulation and heart vitality

🌿 Ingredients & Measurements

Option A: Tea (most gentle, great for daily use)

  • Hawthorn berries (dried): 1 tablespoon
(or 1 tsp leaf & flower if berries aren’t available)
  • Cayenne pepper (powder): a pinch (⅛ tsp or less)
  • Water: 2 cups

Option B: Apple Cider Vinegar Tonic (stronger, warming)

  • Hawthorn berries (dried): ½ cup
  • Cayenne pepper (powder): ½–1 tsp (adjust to tolerance)
  • Raw apple cider vinegar: enough to fully cover herbs
  • Optional: raw honey (added later, to taste)

🔥 How to Prepare

Tea Method

  1. Add hawthorn to water and simmer gently for 15–20 minutes
    (berries need time to extract).
  2. Remove from heat, let cool slightly.
  3. Add cayenne at the end (heat preserves its potency).
  4. Strain and drink warm.

Vinegar Tonic Method

  1. Place hawthorn and cayenne in a glass jar.
  2. Cover completely with apple cider vinegar.
  3. Seal and store in a cool, dark place for 3–4 weeks.
  4. Shake gently every few days.
  5. Strain. Add honey if desired.

❤️ Traditional Benefits

Hawthorn

  • Supports heart muscle strength
  • Encourages balanced heart rhythm
  • Traditionally used for long-term cardiovascular support

Cayenne

  • Enhances circulation and blood flow
  • Helps deliver nutrients efficiently throughout the body
  • Warming, stimulating, and fast-acting

Together

  • Often used in folk heart tonics for circulation + resilience
  • Especially valued for cold hands/feet or sluggish circulation

(This is traditional wellness use, not a medical treatment.)

⏰ Best Time to Take It

  • Morning or early afternoon (energizing)
  • Best between meals or with a light snack
  • Avoid late evening—cayenne can be stimulating

🧊 Shelf Life & Storage

Tea

  • Fresh is best
  • Refrigerate up to 24–48 hours in a sealed glass jar

Vinegar Tonic

  • Pantry stable for 6–12 months
  • Refrigeration is optional, but it extends freshness

💡 Usage Tips

  • Start very small with cayenne—more is not better
  • If sensitive, take with food or dilute in warm water
  • Consistency matters more than strength (especially hawthorn)
  • Not ideal during pregnancy, with ulcers, or if you’re on heart/blood-pressure meds—check first if unsure
