Who is Nesie Njamnsi?
Nesie Njamnsi (known as Nesy) is the founder of NESY Collection, a Cameroonian-American mother of two, and a biochemistry graduate who blends African herbal tradition with modern science to share affordable natural wellness solutions for women. Based in Rockville, Maryland, Nesie writes from over a decade of hands-on personal experience using home remedies to care for her family on a tight budget — combining what she learned from her Cameroonian grandmother with her formal training in biochemistry. Now in her fifties, she focuses on preventive wellness, mindful eating, and daily habits that keep women feeling strong, vibrant, and ahead of illness rather than chasing it.
My Story
I'm Nesie Njamnsi — but most people just call me Nesy. I was born and raised in Cameroon, West Africa, where natural remedies aren't a trend. They're a way of life. My grandmother and the women in my village treated coughs with ginger and lemon, calmed cramps with hibiscus and bissap, healed skin with shea butter and African black soap, and used herbs whose names don't even appear in American wellness blogs. That knowledge wasn't something we read in books. It was passed down at the kitchen table, in the garden, and around the cooking fire.
I later studied biochemistry at the University of Yaoundé I (Université de Yaoundé I) in Cameroon, which gave me a completely different lens. Suddenly, I understood why ginger calmed nausea (gingerol affects gastric motility), why turmeric reduced inflammation (curcumin's effect on inflammatory pathways), and why the herbal teas my grandmother brewed actually worked. The science explained the tradition. The tradition gave the science soul.
I later moved to the United States, eventually settling in Rockville, Maryland — where I now raise my family and run NESY Collection.
The Real Reason I Started Sharing
I became a mother of two. And like many young mothers, I was on a strict budget. Doctor's visits, pharmacy bills, over-the-counter remedies — they all add up fast when you're raising small children. Every time one of my kids had a stuffy nose, a tummy ache, a fever, or skin irritation, I couldn't afford to run to urgent care for every little thing.
So I did what my grandmother did. I went into my kitchen.
I dug through every book, every African remedy my mom and aunties remembered, every credible online source I could find. I cross-referenced what I learned with my biochemistry background to make sure I wasn't doing anything unsafe. And over the years, I built up a personal library of natural remedies that worked — affordable, gentle, effective.
This wasn't a hobby. It was survival. And the remedies I share on this blog are the same ones I've used on my own children, my own body, and recommend to my own family and friends.
Now in My Fifties: Why Prevention Became Everything
Something changes when you reach your fifties. You start to notice what your body is telling you. Friends and family around you are dealing with diabetes, high blood pressure, hormonal shifts, joint pain, slower digestion, weight that won't move the way it used to. And you realize something powerful:
"We truly are what we eat."
I made a decision a few years ago to stop waiting until something goes wrong. Instead of treating illness after it shows up, I focus on preventing it from showing up at all. That means I am very conscious of what I put in my body. I read labels. I cook from scratch as often as I can. I lean on the foods, herbs, and teas my grandmother used — the ones modern science is finally catching up to.
My daily approach is simple, and I share it openly on this blog:
- Eat clean and intentionally — real food, lots of plants, healing spices like turmeric, ginger, garlic, and African herbs, and less of what causes inflammation.
- Move my body every day — not extreme workouts, just consistent walking, stretching, and strength work that keeps me mobile, balanced, and strong as I age.
- Use natural preventive remedies — herbal teas, daily wellness shots, juices, and time-tested home remedies that support immunity, hormones, digestion, and heart health before problems start.
- Care for myself as a woman — feminine wellness, hormonal balance, and intimate health don't pause in your fifties. They become even more important.
That's why I started sharing what I do and what I eat. Because if it's keeping me healthy, energetic, and showing up for my family in my fifties — it might help another woman do the same. Prevention is the most affordable medicine there is. And every woman deserves to know about it.
What Qualifies Me to Write About Wellness?
I want to be honest about what I am — and what I'm not — because trust matters when it comes to your health.
What I Am:
- A biochemistry graduate from the University of Yaoundé I, Cameroon — I understand how plants, herbs, and supplements interact with the human body at a chemical level.
- A Cameroonian woman raised with traditional African herbal knowledge that has been used safely by generations of women.
- A mother of two who has personally tested every remedy I write about on myself and my children before publishing it.
- A woman in her fifties living what I teach — eating clean, moving daily, and using natural preventive remedies as my first line of defense.
- A researcher at heart — I read peer-reviewed studies, herbalist references, and traditional medicine literature before writing any post.
- A budget-conscious woman who knows what it's like to need real, affordable solutions that work.
What I Am NOT:
- A licensed medical doctor
- A registered dietitian
- A certified herbalist or naturopath
- Qualified to diagnose, treat, prescribe, or cure any medical condition
The content I write is informational and based on personal experience, traditional knowledge, and accessible research. It is not medical advice. Please see our full medical disclaimer and always consult your doctor before starting any new wellness practice — especially during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or if you have a medical condition or take medication.

Every remedy I share comes from one of three places: my grandmother's kitchen in Cameroon, my biochemistry textbooks, or my own life as a mother and a woman who needed something that worked.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for trusting me with your time.
